Why Beachcomber Meditation Mondays?

Beachcomber Meditation Mondays

When I mentor meditation students one of the biggest obstacles to their meditation practice is not having enough time. When setting up Beachcomber meditation one my main aims was to support busy people to fit a meaningful meditation practice into their lives.

I thought of the idea of Meditation Mondays so that we can start the week as we mean to go on! When I worked a 9-5pm Monday to Friday job, my motivation to live the week well always seemed highest on a Monday morning. So, I decided to lead a fifteen minute meditation each Monday morning, but when would be a good time for people living busy lives with jobs to go to and kids to get ready for school. I chose 6.45am, thinking that would be before many people need to start preparing for their day.

The aim of the morning meditation is to bring calm and clarity to the mind in preparation for the day ahead. Beachcomber Meditation is all about enjoying the life we have to the full and so the practices will begin with a focus on gratitude and appreciation for the good things in life. Focussing on gratitude and appreciation is a way of cultivating joy and a joyful mind is much more likely to be calm than a grumpy or craving mind!

Also, I have spoken to many people who struggle to sleep well and a good night’s sleep is a potent ingredient to a happy life. Therefore, I thought we could bookend each Monday by adding a relaxing meditation before bed. I chose 9.45pm for the Monday evening meditation and again will lead a fifteen minute with a focus on relaxing the mind and body, ready for sleep. I cannot guarantee a good mights sleep, but many people have told me over the years that they use my bodyscan practice to help them to get to sleep.

I will lead the meditations live on Zoom and you can find the links on the Monday Meditation page of the website. Attending these meditations is completely free, with no need to sign up. But please have a read of the section about whether it is the right time for you to start meditation, before joining.

Then for the rest of the week the recordings from Monday will be available on that same webpage to repeat on other mornings and evenings of the week. Actually, they will be available all week to be used at any time to suit you.

So if you’re having a difficult day and could do with a short meditation to give you some calm and clarity, just visit the webpage above for the fifteen minute practice from the previous Monday morning.

If you can’t sleep, or need a period of rest during the day and could do with a short relaxing meditation to help you to rest or sleep, just visit the webpage above for the fifteen minute practice from the previous Monday evening.

Then if you like what you hear and find the meditations beneficial, then who not subscribe to A Year of Meditation or come along to one of our Holiday Retreats

I hope to meet you online or in person soon!
